A Count Down: China II

And so we zig and zag across time—to April of last year.

Still in China, but Xian this time, the old Tang Dynasty capital known more for statues of soldiers than for its food (which, frankly, is a travesty), and my most recent trip to China.

It’s hard to explain how a country and culture so “foreign” to your own can burrow itself into your soul, become so much a part of you, so familiar and comforting and reassuring that to arrive on its soil feels more like coming home than flying into your hometown or the town you call home today does.

But there you have it. There is China for me. As it’s been since July 1997. And probably always will be.
