I WROTE A BOOK!
Both a cookbook and a cultural journey, SILK ROADS is a rich and delicious celebration of the world’s most famous trade routes. Weaving together a feast of 90 unmissable dishes and eye-opening essays that explore threads of food, trade, and travel, my book brings to life the flavors of the Silk Roads– from the walnut groves of my Iranian father’s childhood, across Uzbek markets brimming with fragrant melons, to steaming bowls of noodles eaten in the backstreets of China.
Recipes include crispy-bottomed rice with hearty Azeri-Iranian stews, dill-infused noodles from Western Uzbekistan, cheesy Georgian cornbread, fragrant Uyghur lamb chops, zingy salads, comforting dumplings and breads, and desserts like Apple & Quince Pie and Sticky Maple Persimmon Pudding. Alongside recipes, my essays and headnotes delve into the diasporic and regional culinary connections that still bind these cultures together.
